About This Trip

There is no better seat for a rocket launch than open water. From the boat there are no crowds, no parking, no roadside barricades and nothing between you and the pad but open Atlantic. We run out of the port and hold offshore with a clear line of sight back to the Cape. You hear it before you feel it, and then you feel it.

You meet Captain Richard at Freddie Patrick Park in Port Canaveral, and he puts the boat in position well before the window opens. The 26′ Avenger is yours and your group’s alone — up to six guests, no strangers aboard. Bring a camera and something warm; night launches get cool on the water even in summer.

Trips run for SpaceX, Blue Origin and NASA launches. Because launch times are set by the range and not by us, this trip does not run on a fixed weekly schedule — dates open as launches are confirmed.

Where We Meet

We launch from Freddie Patrick Park boat ramp on Flounder Street, on the south side of Port Canaveral next to Jetty Park. There is free paved parking for boat trailers and cars, restrooms on site, and from the ramp it is only a few minutes out through the port to the open ocean.

Captain Richard sends you a map pin and your meeting time when he confirms your date. Arrive 15 minutes early so we are off the trailer and clear of the ramp before the window opens.

Before You Book — Please Read

You are booking the boat and the captain, not the launch. Rockets scrub. It is normal, it happens late, and it is outside anyone’s control.

• If we go out and the rocket does not fly, the charter is complete and there is no refund. The boat was launched, fueled and put in position — and a slipped launch date often collides with a trip already booked for the next day. We will still run the trip and look for wildlife on the way in.
• If the launch scrubs before we leave the dock, you have first right of refusal on the next attempt — your booking moves to the rescheduled date if the boat is open.
• This trip goes offshore, so sea state decides. A small craft advisory or a bad forecast will cancel it even on a perfect launch day. Captain Richard makes that call as early as he can.
• If the captain cancels for weather or unsafe water, you choose: a full refund, or move your booking to another date. Safety is always the captain’s call.
• If a launch holds in its window, we stay in position up to 2 hours past the scheduled time at no extra charge. After that we run back in.

Book this trip expecting a great evening on the water, and treat the rocket as the bonus. That is the honest way to enjoy it.
